Night dives always show us an entirely new world. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge; even a simple dive site looks different at night. When you make a day dive, you usually scan the entire dive site, looking at your surroundings. At night, you see only the dive site area lit by your light, forcing you to slow down and concentrate on that area.
Reveal a new fascinating underwater world with Manta Scuba night dive. Join our team of professionals for a fantastic adventure when the underwater scene changes and nocturnal creatures like Stingrays, octopuses, Lobsters, and many more emerge.
Night dives are a completely different experience than day dives. The vibe is different, the setting & scene change, marine life is different, and you can get a fresh look and a new perspective on the diving site.
Darkness brings out all kinds of fascinating marine life. Day creatures retire, and nocturnal organisms and night creatures like Lobsters, Stingrays, Octopuses, Crabs, Parrotfish, Seaworms, and more emerge.
The scene and setting are also different. Even the simple dive site looks different at night, so you can only imagine what a spectacle you’ll watch at Pelican Rock, where we usually take our night dives.
Our dive lights will illuminate the walls and reveal a dazzling display of colors that cannot be seen during the day. You can also spot flowering orange-cup corals, which are fascinating.
The living scene is also different as night hunters come out. You can spot octopuses and cuttlefish hunting, Parrotfish sleeping inside their protection bubble, and more.
Night dives are more relaxed and easy-going. Since it’s dark and the only area we can see is the one lit by our light, we take our time, dive slowly, and concentrate on that one area, not on the surroundings like in day dives.
This allows us to spot marine life in unexpected places and other sights that can not be seen during the day. Night dives are a calm and unique experience under the moonlight, one that you don’t want to give up.
Manta’s PADI-certified Divemasters led a small group of certified divers on this trip. Divers need to dive with us during the day before the night dive.
We recommend that all divers experience day diving at the site to get to know it better.
We meet at the Manta’s facilities upon sunset for a short recap with our PADI masters. You’ll get a tank, whites, and dive lights. You can rent a full set at the store.
After getting the gear, we head off to the boat for a short 5-10-minute ride to the dive site. The ride is taken in comfortable, fully equipped, custom-made dive boats, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of Cabo at night. The entire trip takes about 2 hours.
Once we get to the site, the adventure starts.
The Cabo Marine Reserve – scuba diving Cabo San Lucas
The unique underwater landscapes and vibrating marine life make Pelican Rock one of the most famous diving sites in the world.
The diving conditions are usually excellent since it is inside the Bay of Cortez. This allows us to dive calmly at night while still enjoying numerous night-time creatures like Lobsters, Crabs, Seaworms, Stingrays, and octopuses.
“Friendly and Professional Dive Shop”
We did a 3-day package with Manta Scuba – Local, Corridor and La Paz. The staff were helpful from the very beginning, even before we arrived. By the time we showed up, everything was set up. We just needed to fill out our paperwork and grab wet suits; the gear was already aboard. The boats were comfortable and the rides out ranged depending on where you went, from the Local spots that are just a few minutes from the dock, to La Paz which required a 2hr van ride and an hour on the boat. That last one might sound daunting, but it was worth it – snorkeling with whale sharks and mobula rays, followed by diving with the most playful sea lions I’ve ever seen! They were grabbing at our hair and playfully (I think!) biting our fins. We had different dive masters during our week, and both were outstanding – good pre-dive briefing, helpful with the gear, and – most important – focused on safety. We would definitely recommend Manta Scuba to anyone considering diving in Cabo – easy to get to, small operation, and professional from start to finish. Well done!
“Fatastic day diving, great team”
Went diving with Manta today. What a fabulous experience. First of all the team, diving equipment, boat were all excellent. Did the three dives – 2 by the Corridor and one locally. Could not have asked for a more enjoyable day. The last 2 included seeing swarms of spotted eagle rays fly above us for what seemed like a very long time, then swimming with sea lions near the arch! The deepest we went was 47 feet. The water temperature on the surface was 70o F, but a 7 mm suit with boots, hood and gloves was adequate to keep me warm. You do need to bring food since the offerings on board a somewhat limited but water is available. So go diving and go with Manta!
